Chrystia Freeland is a Canadian politician, journalist, and author. She was born on August 2, 1968 in Peace River, Alberta, and grew up in a Ukrainian-Canadian family. She attended Harvard University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Russian history and literature, and later obtained a Master of Studies in Slavonic studies from St. Antony’s College, Oxford.
Freeland started her career as a journalist, working for various major publications including The Financial Times, The Washington Post, and The Globe and Mail. She later entered politics, becoming a member of the Canadian Parliament in 2013 and serving in various roles including the Minister of International Trade and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. In 2019, she made history by becoming Canada’s first female Finance Minister. Freeland is known for her intelligence, strong communication skills, and progressive policies, making her a valued member of the Canadian government.
